A good music producer can play an instrument.

Being able to play multiple instrument is important. So you can tell by ear if thats what it is supposed to sound like.

Even playing the drums is important to music production. Because you can fill in if needed to.

As a music producer not only do you produce music you'll have to compose some as well.
