First of all, my name is Hannah Langford and I'm 20 years old. I was born on June 20th, 1996 and I grew up in Bethel Park, PA. I'm currently a Junior at California University of PA studying Graphics & Multimedia. I discovered my passion for graphic design as early as 7th grade where I started using Photoshop to create various types of artwork for the internet.
In my freshman year of high school I joined the Yearbook club with my best friend. This further advanced my love for design as I was responsible for laying out several pages in the book. I stayed in Yearbook for my entire high school career and improved my skill each year. I also took two graphics communications classes where I learned about everything from design to printing processes. During my sophomore and junior years, I was apart of the Media Productions class/club where we delivered the morning news to the school on a daily basis. I switched between being a camera operator and a sound engineer while I was in the class. There's no doubt that this was a really interesting experience getting to learn about how a live news broadcast really works.
All throughout high school, I knew I wanted to do something with design or multimedia, but I wasn't sure what direction to go in until I discovered the GCM department at Cal U. I read up about the program and instantly knew this was where I belonged. So far it has been a challenge, but an enjoyable one. I'm very grateful for my professors and peers who have guided me and taught me so many skills here. I learned layout & design in Adobe Creative Suite, photography, videography, web design, and printing processes. From my experience at Cal U thus far, I think I want to do graphic design for my career. That is my dream, and I know I have the skills and experience for it. I look forward to finishing my degree and seeing where this major takes me.
