One of the most important things I have is my sketchbook, to brainstorm ideas (the picture is a design I made for a friend's tattoo)

Tape (in any shape or size) comes in handy once you are physically making your project

Pencils and colored pencils are important to have with the sketchbook to jot down design ideas and get an idea of what colors to use

Scissors or even an exacto knife to cut off unwanted parts of a project

A flash-drive is important so you aren't limited to one computer and your files can go on the road with you, also so you have a backup in case your computer crashes
