As a Sport Management major, you have the opportunity to work at a variety of jobs. Sports is a huge market consisting of hundreds of career possibilities. This market provides everyone with a chance to find their dream job in sports.
However, there are several thousands of college students trying to get a job in the sports industry. This is a challenge for graduating seniors. You have to be able to set yourself apart from any other applicate.
There are two things you can do to help give you a better chance of acquiring a job before you graduate. First, you have to network. There are conferences you can go to that will allow you to meet individual already in the sports industry. This may require you to go outside of your comfort zone but talk to them and get a business card from them. This will not only give you a contact in the industry but this will also make you stand out in their minds. So, when you apply for a job they will already have an idea who you are. The second thing you need to do is to get field experience. This goes for any career field but even more in the sports industry. As you are going through college you should get an internship even if your school doesn’t require it. It would be wise to get more than one internship or you could job shadow. Both will help network you.
