§           H.J. Heinz History Center: Chairperson responsible for leading the collaboratiive effort  with the largest museum in Pennsylvania while building a “volunteer applications development” function with students and faculty from the Math and Computer Science Department.  The effort includes students and faculty working in unison via the classroom to solve business problems though the use of information technology for the Library and Archives (L&A) area.  2005-ongoing 

§           Recruitment and Marketing Committee – Facilitating the department's marketing initiatives to attract students through efforts such as creating marketing plans and brochures, providing on-campus open house sessions, and visiting local high schools and community colleges.  2006-ongoing

§           Vulcan Drive - Facilitator for the Math and Computer Science Department's annual fund drive for student scholarships.  2005-2006

RELATED CAREER EXPERIENCE

 

PPG INDUSTRIES, INC., Pittsburgh, PA                                                                               1993 – 2005

IT Manager, Senior Systems Analyst

§         Managed $1.8M EIPP (electronic invoice presentation and payment) project that enables customers to both dispute and pay invoices electronically via the Internet; project produced $80M in cash receipts in 2004.  The application model, eBilling – a quick to market ASP solution from BCE Emergis - fit a reengineered business process, involving the processing of 70K invoices per month. 

§         Pioneered web-based freight payment application for Logistics/Supply Chain Department including integration with a 3rd party provider, Cass Logistics.  Achieved cost savings of $600K/year.

§         Implemented data warehouse and business intelligence solutions using Cognos-based technology for purchasing, finance and logistics to manage the supply chain as well as to assist in problem solving and decision-making.  Produced cost savings of $300K/year.

§         Managed staff and guided the evolution of team resources from IBM mainframe based technology to web-based, client/server application development skill sets using MS Visual Basic, Interdev, Access, SQL Server databases and Crystal Reports.

§         Implemented systems development life cycle and deliverable standards for three (3) departments.

§         Mentored existing staff from “directives” to “delegators”.
