Blueprint Designs Cob Homes

What is a Cob?

A cob is a home made of clay-like lumps of soil, sand, and straw. Typically they will have sloping walls, arches and lots of wall niches. Additionally, because the mixture used to create the cob is porous (of a rock or other material) it is one of the most durable types of earth architecture! Building a cob is cost-effective and sustainable, the material used for the mixture is very simple and it prevents needs for additional costs involved in tradtional houses, for example, insulation. Cob homes have natural insulation, keeping you warm in the winter and cool in the summer without any additional cost!

cob interior

Here we have an example of the interior of one of our cobs. Because of the natural emelents of a cob, we like to keep that flow when moving into the interior of the home. There is plenty of wood and exposed stone, even some built in storage or seating can be created out of the same material as the walls to create a simplistic feeling.

Who designed our style?

Our ceo and founder of Blueprint Deigns, Elayna Snyder, is the mind behind our signature style. Elayna graduated from California University of Pennsylvannia with a degree in graphic design, after working as a graphic designer and saving her money she decided to enter a more three-dimensional career. She did this by using her savings and experiece with design technology as well as architectural knowledge. Eventually her business grew into Blueprint Designs! She put together our staple style because of her love of plants and the enviornment as well as her warm yet innovative sense of style.
