Music influences all of us in certain ways, for Abby started at an early age. Falling in love with the creative process behind making music made her want to be around it all the time, and what better job for that than a producer! She attended California University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated with a degree in Commerical Music Technology (CMT). Working at Sony music for 2 years before she decided to create an independent label herself. 818 Studio, located in NYC.
“It’s always been a dream of mine to have a place that can be an outlet for an artist. Somewhere they can feel comfortable to create what they want. To have complete freedom in what they want to do but at the same time, feel as though they are in control of what they are creating. Working with a major label company made me realize how easily an artist’s image, music, and message can be controlled and turned into someone or something that they just are not. My goal in creating this label was to make sure artists are staying true to themselves. Here at 818 Studio, we want nothing but authenticity from our artists.” -Abby Hays
